Get a closer look at this Resistance fleet painted by a member of TTStaff.
Our Dropfleet Commander 2.0 staff tournament is in full swing with multiple commanders pitting their fleets against each other. Whilst we await the first round of results from the initial combat we wanted to take a closer look at some of the fleets! Today we’re looking at the Resistance Fleet named ”Bulwark Armada Quintus”.
Bulwark Armada Quintus
In a Galaxy filled with Scavenger fleets we don’t often see orange themed Resistance miniatures. The commander is either a big fan of a certain British DIY store or perhaps its employees simply bashed together some ships using supplies available to them to fight the Scourge. Personally, I’m a big fan of this scheme, especially the Aldrin Colony ship and the Tribune Battlecruiser.
The above image gives you a better look at the Tribune in all it’s glory. Differing from our studio blue and black scheme, this Battlecruiser certainly stands out! Priming the miniature in Matt Brown and applying even layers of Blood Orange for the base coat, our commander then used Orange Djinn and a final highlight of Boo Yeah! Orange to create this vibrant scheme.
The pale grey spot colour was base coated Admiralty grey and highlighted Frosted Edge. Then all the recesses were painted with Umber wash, to give the whole ship a grimy feel.
All silver metallics were painted Tungsten steel and washed over with Black wash. This was all then dry brushed with Tungsten steel and a final light dry brush of Folded steel. This technique picks out the silver and makes the higher details pop.
To increase the weathered look, the armour of the ship was chipped by sponging on Laser Cut Brown, focussing on the edges of the ships. This was then lightly sponged over with Tungsten steel too, showing even heavier areas weathering.
The final stage was to paint the green details, these were key to break up the paint scheme and adds some focal points. These were based Amazonian Green and then Highlighted Mantis Green.
