A True Underdog Story – Mythos

Who doesn’t love an unappreciated bad guy?

Ladies… we all love a bad boy right? RUMBLESLAM is filled with horrendous heels wowing the crowd with monstrous moves but very few do it better than today titan of the ring.

The following is written by TTAgent Ben.

When a game has as many varied playable characters as RUMBLESLAM, some will inevitably be overlooked. After all, not everyone can have two gold plus 1 on all their stats!

Welcome back to A True Underdog Story, the series where we cover an
underappreciated wrestler and give them a moment under the spotlight to shine! So, which aging wrestler gets their moment this month? He’s big. He’s red. And he has one hell of a temper problem!

It’s Mythos!

So Mythos, the Demon Lord from Hell, how this guy is not a headliner I do not know! He’s got solid stats, with just one copper dice from the nine across his stat line, the rest split evenly between gold and silver. The guy has no weaknesses. He’s got decent health for a weight 3. He’s got four action points and four movement points, which is rare for a heavyweight! He’s got throw 5! Why is he not a headliner?!

Oh, right, he’s a Demon Lord, but still!

Looking at his signature moves, he only gets scarier! His Superhuman Spinebreaker gains the Crowd Pleaser trait when you score a beatdown. Given it’s using two gold and a copper dice, you should regularly score at least four points more than your opponent. Granted, a lot of the time, his crowd pleaser will go unused. Still, you can bet your bottom dollar it’ll trigger at the perfect moment for that devastating attack! His Clothes Line From Hell looks pricey on paper at 3 action points, but for that, you get three silver dice on the attack, two damage base, knockdown and throw one! It’s hell-a good for punishing those non-believers!* and messing up your opponent’s perfectly laid plans. Get it right, and you just might be able to throw the damned soul out of the ring!* 1 And all for just three action points?! Yes, please!

Then there’s his Turnbuckle ability, the Unholy Diver, which is up there as one of the best in the game. Three silver and a copper dice scoring three damage as standard is scary as hell!* 2 Sure, it’s only range three, but with the increasing number of “mobile” turnbuckles out there, you’ll soon see Mythos flying through the air like Dumbo! When you pair it with his crowd pleaser ability, Unholy Diver only gets better as it gains Devastating! You might want to bring a change of underwear for your opponent when you tell them you’re throwing four dice for three damage on their whole team!

Finally, we have Mythos signature move, his temper incarnate Immolation. For two action points, you set all wrestlers in base contact ablaze for 1 damage, no dice, no tokens, just pure unadulterated damage! It’s a great space maker for when Mythos gets surrounded because after the first time you pull the move off, your opponent will think twice about leaving their wrestlers so close to the Lord of Hell!

So Mythos punches hard, grapples harder, and leaps off turnbuckles like a bat out of hell! He can throw wresters half way across the ring. He can push damage through without a single dice being rolled, all for just 325,000 Dosh!

Mythos is beyond scary! He’s downright evil! Now, if you’ll excuse me. I have to
confess my sins because I’ve been thinking of some devilishly* 3 naughty tactics with Mythos…

*Or those who wander too close to the ropes.
* 1 Without the need for all those pesky “dirty” rolls!
* 2 Sorry, not sorry for the pun!
* 3 Just when you thought I couldn’t squeeze another pun! Ha!
