Firestorm Games Learnt to play Dropfleet Commander 2.0

Its always great to see people enjoying your game…

The lovely team at Firestorm Games recently learnt to play the latest edition of Dropfleet Commander. Jake and the other hopeful commanders quickly set to work on their chosen fleets and were kind enough to share their experience with us all.

The following is written by Jake from Firestorm:

The Staff at Firestorm Games Cardiff have been really excited since the announcement of Dropfleet 2.0. Many of the staff involved had never painted minis at this scale so over the next 2 weeks we saw people sharing tips and tricks on how to get the best results and some of these ships have turned out brilliantly. Then, one fateful night, it was time for battle to commence. After a brief rules discussion ships were deployed, dropsites were prepared and weapons charged. By the end of the evening the carnage was absolute. Pew Pew noises had been unleashed and everyone had a great time learning and playing. The veterans talked of all the changes and how streamlined the edition was. The new players wandered off to plan their next purchases… jumping from learn to play straight to dreadnought is the correct pathway.

Overall it was an absolute blast and as one of the veterans I must say this edition is amazing. It is so smooth to play. So many of the rules feel evocative and it all comes together to be easier to teach than ever. The tactical decisions remain, the choices on list building are as important as ever and the game is full of cinematic moments, sudden death dice roles and so many opportunities to effect the outcome of the game. For anyone who has looked from the outside and wanted to jump into this game – now is your time. For any lapsed players – now is the time to return. There is so much variety both within fleets and between factions, you really can put your own personality into how you want you fleet to fight.
